Nicholas Gunn casts a spell with his music, celebrating life and reflecting the grandeur and beauty of the earth with expressive and inventive flute arrangements and rhythmic percussion that speak to the heart, body and soul. Classically trained, and with a reputation as one of the world's best selling flutists, keyboardists, and percussionists, Gunn is in the upper echelon of contemporary instrumentalists.

Breathe

Gunn mixes beautiful flute melodies with uplifting rhythms for what has been called a "masterpiece of musical expression." His love for music was sparked as a child growing up in Rochester, England, where he was fascinated by his grandfather who was a professional pedal steel guitarist. Gunn was soon enrolled to study flute at the Royal School of Music and by age nine had already experienced one of his fondest and scariest musical moments — sitting in as part of the pit orchestra for the stage musical "Oliver."

In the early nineties, Gunn's debut recording "Afternoon in Sedona," inspired by his travels throughout the southwest, was released and was a best-seller at national retail chains such as Natural Wonders and the Nature Company. Nicholas' next seven subsequent albums each became a bestseller and went straight to the Billboard's Contemporary Instrumental charts. Nicholas first began to incorporate a Latin edge into his sound on his 1996 album "Crossroads," but it is the predominant influence on his upcoming release "Breathe." The album will be released Fall 2004 on his own record label Gemini Sun.

On his recordings, Gunn, who handles the arrangements and production, performs primarily on the concert classical C flute, but also plays bamboo flutes, wooden and tin whistles, synthesizers and a wide variety of drums and percussion instruments (and he occasionally adds background singing and chanting). He also brings in special guest musicians which have included Yanni violinist Karen Briggs, cellist Sachi McHenry Patitucci, acoustic guitarists Zavier and John Bishoff (who also plays in his live back up band), and various vocalists including Holland Zander (Robin Zander of Cheap Trick's daughter), Casandra Sheard, Robert Miano, and Navajo Razor Saltboy. Gunn also adds subtle sounds of nature to help capture the spirit and mood of the inspiration for a particular song.

"I want my music to accomplish several things," Gunn explains. "I want the music to stand on it's own as an enjoyable experience with good melodies and arrangements. But most of all, I hope my music helps people concentrate on the positive effects of nature and love in order to help counterbalance all the negative things going on in our world."

Chef Joe Rosetti

Chef Joe Rosetti continues to raise the bar of hotel dining. Molive, the ultra sleek restaurant at the Whitehall Hotel, buzzes with charm and sophistication. Using fresh and seasonal ingredients, Chef Joe Rosetti makes a culinary statement with his California-Mediterranean cuisine.
